Cooroora Woodcraft Show 2022

Woodworking Masters from all over SEQ will display their work. Many one of a kind items will be on sale to visitors. Timber, tools and supplies all available to buy. Show bags filled with items made by woodies from Cooroora Woodworkers Club.

Woodwork is at the very heart of Queensland’s history and wood shows up and down the state keep the craft/hobby/art alive.

COMPETITIONS

These are the heart of the show and help to keep alive the traditional skills of woodworking. The quality of the entries is always impressive. All the competition entries will be on display and visitors will see a wide range of woodworking skills including:

Interclub

Regional woodworking clubs compete for valuable prizes donated by Mitre10 Cooroy.

School Student

Regional schools show their woodworking skills and the best are rewarded with cash prizes sponsored by Hinternoosa.

Club Member

Includes a wide variety of woodwork for novice, intermediate and master woodworkers.

RAFFLE PRIZES

Bushie's Bar, Eucalypt Bowl and a Slab

  • A handcrafted Bushie’s Bar replicating a rustic corrugated iron water tank from New Guinea Rosewood, with a solid Red Ironbark top, then finished with Tung Oil.
  • A Eucalypt burl bowl turned by our very own – Jeff Fraser.
  • A club milled slab of local timber finished ready for that next project.

Chainsaw Art

“Shane is a locally based ‘environmental artisan’ who uses chainsaws & traditional carving techniques to make fauna inspired sculptures. What will he carve at our Woodcraft show this year? Lucas Milling Team

The MILLING TEAM collects unwanted logs from around Cooroy and recycles them into useful timber in the form of slabs and lumber. You can see the logs – Camphor Laurel and Red Cedar being milled during the show. These slabs – as well as seasoned slabs, some already surfaced and ready for use as table tops will also be available for purchase.
